Bolivia

Tiwanaku
(1 gold / 5 silver / 10 bronze rewards)

The game opens with 9-year-old Lara and her mother on a plane crash. It then cuts to Lara, free climbing a Bolivian cliff. At vertiginous heights, she looks down and listens to Zip crying over the headset. Lara reaches the top of the mountain with a gracious handstand, then introduces the ruins ahead of her to Alister, her research assistant back at Croft Manor.

Just ahead of you, go behind the rock on the left and pick up a bronze reward (1/10). Hop over the gap and go to the small alcove, in the far corner, to collect another bronze reward (2/10). Take a dip and emerge on the other side, Zip will ask you to check your PDA. After that, hop onto the platform above and push down the rock which blocks your way. Clear the small gap and climb up the vine on the wall, leaping to the next one as you gain height. From the second vine, jump to solid ground.

Run along the ledge and jump towards the rope. Instead of swinging past the waterfall, turn around and you will notice another cave entrance to the left. Swing and jump there. Turn on your PLS and follow the cave to find a silver reward (1/5). Drop down to the lower area and head left to exit the cave. Jump over the gap to the higher ledge.

Grab the ledge on the wall and shimmy all the way to the left, finally, jump backwards to reach the top of the waterfall. A giant boulder will roll down as you approach it, or alternatively you can shoot out the branches that hold it in place using the accurate aim. Once past the boulder, stand on the rock and jump to the pole above. Move sideways to align with the next one, swing and jump over to the ledge on the wall. Hop to the right and a small animation will take place.

Lara hangs from the edge as she overhears a mercenary walking towards her. He fails to see her and keeps chatting over the radio to someone Lara can't identify. He says there's no way anyone could ever climb that cliff, and as he turns around to return, Lara climbs up to surprise him.

Take the mercenary down and carry on. Before climbing up the rocks on the left, pick up the bronze reward (3/10) nearby. Then climb up the rocks using the ledge below and push the rock down. It will fall over a branch, raising a pole at the far end. Drop down and swing on the pole to the next area. Use the grapple and pull down the golden disc to enter.

Sneaking into the new area, Lara stealthily eavesdrops the random chatter of two other mercenaries. She smiles and silently walks in the open, without being noticed by the two men.

After taking out the two mercenaries, head towards the wall behind the waterfall and grab the ledge. Shimmy left, jump backwards to the pole and swing over to another ledge, then shimmy left and hop to the ledge on the far wall, hopping to the ledge above and standing tall. Turn around and grab the rope. Swing to the small alcove behind the waterfalls and retrieve another bronze reward (4/10).

Return and head for the two poles over the gap, swing over and a mercenary will appear from the corner. Take him down and use the grapple to clear the bigger gap as the bridge remains fall. Climb up a set of steps and just as you turn around the corner, turn the camera around to spot a bronze reward (5/10) tucked away on a small niche on the wall: use the grapple to collect it. Then follow down the path to see the main temple.

From the top of the hill, Lara crouches and takes out her binoculars for a closer look at the temple. Just as she does so, a helicopter and a jeep loaded with mercenaries come to her attention. They're doing nothing but getting into trouble...

Before sliding down, you can shoot the branches holding the rocks, causing a rockslide which might help defeat some of the mercenaries below. In a small alcove on the far right you will find a hidden bronze reward (6/10). Return and take out the enemies as you go up the ramp near the slope. Before using the rope, drop to the lower area and follow it to the far end to collect another bronze reward (7/10). Retrace your steps back to the rope and clear the gap, sliding on the other side.

As you cross the bridge, some mercenaries will be attacking. You can shoot the nearby crumbling column to drop it over them. After clearing out the area, don't run up the stairs, but rather climb to the second level on the left instead. Shoot the suspicious wall and it will reveal a silver reward (2/5). Pick it up and return to the stairs to enter the temple.

As Lara approaches the doorway, she quickly crouches to avoid incoming fire from two mercenaries, who run to hide in the temple. She draws her guns, but the very next thing she listens to are painful screams of said mercenaries. "Amateurs," as per her definition.

To avoid the same fate as the amateurs, jump just before the suspicious floor opens and use the grapple to clear the gap and land safely on the other side. Go up the stairs and head left, through a narrow passage, to collect another bronze reward (8/10). Return and go towards the chains.

Climb up the chain to the top, then jump to the second chain – it will slowly slide down – quickly climb up and jump back to the first chain, over the thicker part. From there, jump to the opening on the wall and drop on the other side, using the chain if you desire. Follow the path to a small lake.

Swim to the right and climb out of the water on the small ledge, to collect a small bronze reward (9/10) behind some debree. Jump back in the water and swim the rest of the path, climbing out at the other end. Deal with the jaguar along the way before you reach the closing walls. Time your way past them to reach a cage and another set of closing walls. This time around, it's too long a path to run, so drag the cage and put it inbetween the first set of walls so they don't close completely. Time your way past the second one and follow the corridor to reach a seesaw area.

You have three floor switches and three boxes scattered around the floor. Head to the right and ignore the first box, jumping to the alcove above and collecting a bronze reward (10/10). Drop down and drag the first box over the nearest button. Drop another level and pull out the box from beneath the stone seesaw, it will fall down, then push the box over the seesaw so it stays in place. A jaguar may have shown up, so deal with the poor animal. Climb up to the ledge above and then jump on the other end of the seesaw, flipping the box to the ledge above. Climb up and drag this box over the center button.

Drag the third box over to the seesaw and flip that one too. Then move it onto the last switch button. An animation will take over and you'll see the main door opening up top as the two gears revolve. Before climbing up though, we'll have to shut that same door if we want to collect the golden reward of the level, so move all the boxes off the switches to close the door. In the same order you did before, put the first box on the right switch and then the second box on the center switch. Instead of using a box, use Lara on the third switch and watch the gear on the wall spin. Wait for a single, but full, turn of the gear.

Head to the chain on the left, climb the ledge and jump to the chain. Climb up it and hop to the ledge. Shimmy left and hop upwards. Jump and grab the chain, swing over the slope and drop down onto the ledge. Let go to grab the lower ledge, and jump to pole on the left. Swing and jump over to the door ledge. Climb up the two ledges on the wall, around the door, and then jump to the center of the door, where Lara will find a place to hang on to. Time the momentum to jump to the top of the door and then to a small alcove over the door where you finally retrieve the golden reward (1/1). Climb back down to the door level but don't go in yet.

Let's go to the platforms on the opposite side. Jump on the ledge, shimmy to the right and climb up. Jump and grab the chain above, then swing over the slope to the silver reward (3/5). Return and now cross the doors. An interactive cutscene will take over. Press the appropriate buttons as they appear on screen to clear it. Head left and hang on the edge, then futher left and drop down to the ground level. A jaguar has been lurking all along, so deal with it.

Right beneath the entrance is a small rock you can push all the way inside. Turn on your PLS to notice the small cavern which will lead you to a silver reward (4/5). Return and use the rock surface on the right and then jump to either of the poles on the "coat racks", as Zip puts it. It will rotate so as to give you access to the next poles. You'll eventually reach the ledge on the far wall. Shimmy all the way to the right and then jump to the ledge on the other side.

Before climbing up, align yourself with the pole behind you, and swing over to a small alcove. Here you will find a silver reward (5/5). Return to the wall ledges and climb them up, then shimmy left to the entrance you saw previously. Follow the long hallway, all the way to the end, and a cutscene will take over. You will be introduced to a new character.

Using her binoculars, Lara sees in the distance the ornate dais that brought her here. The resemblance to what she had seen as a child half a world away is striking, so she gets caught in the moment. Gunfire brings her back to the present, and the man in charge of the mercenaries comes forward for a quick chat. He holds in his very hands an artifact that looks exactly like one of the artifacts Lara had seen as a child, and he also mentions a friend Lara believed to have lost a long time ago... Lara demands answers, but the man simply turns his back on her and orders an attack.

After the cutscene, the helicopter will blow up the very bridge you're standing on, so quicken your pace, and jump over the gaps to reach the central arena. The helicopter then flies away, and you are attacked by several mercenaries. Take out all of them and the level ends.

Finally alone with the stone dais, Lara examines it and realizes it looks exactly like that other dais. Back at the Croft Manor, Zip fills Lara in about Rutland, the man she met in Bolivia. Lara asks Zip to trace Rutland down and he suggests her to try Paraíso, as Rutland had implied something of interest might be there. [back to top]

Peru

Return to Paraíso
(1 gold / 2 silver / 8 bronze rewards)

As Lara enters the town, the few people that that spot her – or rather, her accessories – immediately get away from her sight, slamming doors and shutting windows. Zip informs Lara that Anaya is waiting for her.

There's a dummy right ahead of you, and on screen prompts will train you on most of Lara's battle techniques. Train, if you must. Go behind the house to the right, and climb to the rooftop via the lower roof area, then use the grapple to swing over to the houses on the other side. Drop in the small alley and collect the bronze reward (1/8). Use the box to jump over the fence and head left to meet Anaya.

Anaya shares with Lara her concern about revisiting their past. Lara tries to comfort her, but a mercenary truck breaks through the market doors. Caring for her friend, Lara tells Anaya to leave and that they'll catch up shortly.

After dealing with all the mercenaries that ambushed you, head to the small alley with the three doors. This is where the second lot of mercenaries came from. Collect the bronze reward (2/8) hidden on the corner. Return and go up the stairs. Through the broken fence, jump onto the small stand, and onto the ledge ahead. Use the two poles to swing to the next ledge and collect another bronze reward (3/8). Use the cable to slide down or simply drop to the ground level. Climb the flag pole then jump to the balcony. Kick open the doors to find a silver reward (1/2) hidden within, then return to the balcony and use the grapple to swing to the next balcony. Collect the grenades on the table and kick open the next set of doors.

There will be mercenaries' coming at you from every side here, so deal with all of them and head down the road. Before turning the corner, go behind the houses and collect a bronze reward (4/8), then return to the main path. A truck with a gun turret will crash by as the mercenaries keep you spinning. Deal with them and then head for the motorbike conveniently waiting for you on the end of the road.

Zip informs Lara that Anaya has called, mercenaries are tailing her. Lara hops on the bike and chases after them.

In the motorbike section there isn't much to explain. Always head forward, using the ramps to jump over the barriers, or shooting the explosive barrels when possible. Shoot out the other bikers while you drive. There are several medipacks scattered around, drive over them when you need them. Don't slow down too much otherwise you will fail the mission. Eventually you'll reach a blown up bridge - use the slopes to clear it and more bikers will apper. Watch out for the rocks and you'll eventually reach the trucks. The first one will drop a lot of boxes, shoot them so they don't hit you, and speed past the truck. The third one will drop a few boxes and two mercenaries will shoot you from there. Shoot them down and you'll be able to ride up onto the back of the truck.

From the top of the truck car, Lara waves at Anaya. Anaya decelerates her jeep, only to see Lara stylishly flip off the truck and shoot the truck driver before landing safely on her jeep. They head to the excavation site they had exploited in the past, when their friend Amanda supposedly died. Overlooking the area, Lara tells Anaya there's a possibility Amanda might have not died, but Anaya is still unsure about dwelling in the past.

As Lara steers in the distance, she has a memory of herself and Amanda entering the tomb. Amanda climbs down a rope in front of Lara, who is slightly concerned about the structure that's holding the rope, and just as she climbs down into the tomb, the rope breaks.

During the flashback sequence you won't have any weapons or gadgets, but will have flares if you need them. Roll under the opening and use the pole to cross over the gap. If you head left, you'll see Eva dying and Amanda on the run. Head down to the right and crawl under the gates to find Sarah and a box. Pull the box over the pressure plate nearby, and a pole will stick out of the wall. Use it to swing to the ledge above. Turn right to find a bronze reward (5/8), and then jump to grab the ledge on the wall. Shimmy left and jump off to the next area.

Drop down and head left. Pull the boulder off the plate to disarm the trap, then climb onto the ledge nearby and jump to the rope. Swing and hop to the ledge above, crossing the open gate to join Kent. A cutscene will take over and you'll see yourself from the point of view of the creature that's killing all of your friends. Quickly run down the corridor, jumping over the rocks along the way, and then jumping towards the rope at the end of the tunnel. The creature will leave you for now. Head left and climb the ledge to find another boulder. Push it down and roll it over the plate on the ground floor, so another pole will stick out in the top area. Climb the ledge on the left, and jump to the platform on the center to have a quick chat with Amanda. Then use the pole to swing to the rope and jump to the ledge. Head all the way to the right to collect another bronze reward (6/8), and then go through the doorway. Use the poles overhead to clear the spiked pits until you reach Amanda in a wider area.

Lara sees Amanda trying to pull a stone off the wall, and tries to talk her out of it. Even though she's warned it might be a trap, in a despair act Amanda manages to pull the stone. The creature that had killed their friends vanishes, but in the end Lara was right: the room begins the collapse, the gates begin to close and water breaks in. Amanda and Lara rush to get out, but Amanda gets stuck under a pile of rubble. Lara holds the gate open for some time for Amanda, but is forced to leave her behind before drowning to death herself.

Back to present day, a concerned Anaya tells Lara going back in is a bad idea. Lara believes an important clue lies within the tomb, so she asks Anaya to wait for her outside and not take any chances while she's away.

Before going to the water, turn around and pick up a bronze reward (7/8) from behind a stack of boxes close to the wall. On your way to the water, there will be another bronze reward (8/8), between two wooden walls. Dive and swim all the way to the bottom, where you'll find the opening for the next area. Each circular area has an air pocket at the top, so if you're running out of air, surface in one of those spots. Once you reach a cavernous area, with a strong water pressure, dive and activate the four crystals on the statues. Do so quickly to drain the place.

After the water is completely drained, Lara fins one of Amanda's shoes under the pile of rubble that had fallen on her back then. It has been unlaced, and Lara is surprised with the discovery that Amanda could have survived somehow.

Collect the silver reward (2/2) in one of the alcoves, and then jump through the small opening on the wall to read the story of the Queen of Tiwanaku. Go around the wall, and jump on the ledges on the left, to reach the ledge on the right. Jump and grapple over the slope, and climb the ledges on the right. From the alcove, jump and grapple over the slope again to reach a wide open area. Head to the suspicious rock pathway, and an interactive cutscene will take over. Press the buttons as they appear on screen to clear this task and reach the other side.

There are three pressure plates on this area. On the left wall there is a column with a sphere on top of it. You can grapple and pull it down, so push this boulder onto the plate to the right. There's a sphere near the left plate, so push it over. This will open the two statues on either sides of the room. Climb up the ladder on the right side, then jump to the center of it to be able to climb up further, and then back to the ladder. On top of it, you will find the third sphere - push it down, and climb down the ladders. Push this sphere onto the middle plate to open the final central statue.

The dog statue in the center of the room raises, opening the wings of the central statue. The pedestal beneath the statue shows a staff in a stone, making the similarities to King Arthur's mythology even more striking. Inside the central statue, Lara finds a ceremonial copy of said staff beneath the Queen of Tiwanaku. The artifact looks exactly like one Lara had seen in Japan a long time ago, which is now under Yakuza domain. Lara asks Zip to arrange a meeting with their leader, and he then patches Anaya in: some mercenaries had followed Lara into the tomb.

After the cutscene, grab the ledges on the wing of the statue, and climb to the top, jumping to the ladder on the far right. Climb to the top, and then jump to the ledge on the other side. Grab the ledge and shimmy all the way left, clearing the gaps, until you can climb down safely to a column. Jump to the rope, but don't jump to the next platform yet. Climb up the rope three or four times and turn around a little. On the column to the left, opposite the one you were at, you'll see several broken ledges. There is a ledge that Lara can grab onto uptop, so swing in that direction, until you gain enough momentum to let go and grab it. Jump to the ledge above and shimmy all the way left to find a small opening. Go inside and up the ramp to find a fourth sphere. Push it down the ramp and it will smash the wall, dropping to the area where the other spheres are. Get down there yourself and put this sphere on the middle plate as well. The two of them will provide enough weight to raise the central statue further, revealing the golden reward (1/1). Pick it up and work your way back up to the rope.

This time around, jump to the column on the right and slide down. Mercenaries will have taken over the place, so deal with them, as you retrace your steps back to the four crystals room. There, climb up the mercenary's rope and swing to the opening on top. Work your way through the cavernous tunnels until you reach another rope. Climb it all the way to the top and jump to the area this segment started at. Dispatch all of the mercenaries. When you do so, Lara will ask Zip to warn Anaya to hide. When that last mercenary appears, shooting Anaya's jeep, aim at him and throw the grapple to drop him down to where you are, finishing him off to end this level.

Amanda tells Lara she's never coming back to this place, and is as surprised as Lara was when she's told that Amanda got out alive. Why would she not get in touch? Zip then says Lara has a party to attend to, where she will be meeting Takamoto, one of the Yakuza mobs. [back to top]

Japan

Meeting with Takamoto
(1 gold / 4 silver / 6 bronze rewards)

Entering the lift to go to Nishimura's corporate party, Zip asks her what happened the last time she had met Takamoto. She explains to him, and how things have turned out quite nicely.

At the beginning of the level, you're wearing a beautiful evening dress and you are working undercover. So gently walk down the stairs to the main party room and talk to the bartender. He'll tell you Nishimura is waiting for you down the hall. Head left and enter the room to meet Nishimura. After the formal introductions are done, return to the party room.

Takamoto has put an early end to the party. Lara wants to negotiate the artifact he had stolen from the Waseda university, but he claims not to have it. Lara then reminds him of their last meeting, making him rather unhappy. He orders his men to kill her, and she dives behind the nearby counter and prepares herself to payback.

After the combat, Nishimura appears and gives you the pass to the lift. Head down the other corridor now, and take the elevator to the top of the building. Go outside and shoot the barrel to break down the fences. Climb the pipe and jump off to the platform at the top. Climb to the upper roof and to the next one again. A small box holds a bronze reward (1/6), so shoot it and get it. Then drop to the glass roof, and use the grapple to move it aside so you can drop inside. Go downstairs, and before hopping on the bike, shoot the wooden box beneath the stairs, to collect another bronze reward (2/6). Also shoot the hidden wooden box amidst the cardboard boxes to collect a silver reward (1/4). Now you can finally hop onto the bike.

Ride outside and around the building to the small ramp. As you do so, an interactive cutscene takes over. Press the buttons as they appear on screen to clear the jump and reach the next building safely. In the scaffolding, drop down and follow the lower route until the end. Shoot the wooden box to retrieve the bronze reward (3/6). Return and climb to the upper level. Use the rope to swing to the platform and jump over the gaps. Enter 'accurate aim' mode to shoot down the ring which holds the window, and use the rope to clear the gap. At the end, jump onto the zipline to slide over to the next building.

Use the grapple to pull the platform closer to you and time your jump to it. From the platform, jump and use the grapple to hang. Turn around and swing to the small platform on the right. Use the grapple to pull the platform closer, jump onto it, and using the momentum jump to the next one. Once again, take a leap of faith and throw the grapple to hang safely near a small terrace. Turn around and swing through the broken fence. A few mercenaries will show up, deal with them and their dogs as well.

Enter the building via the double doors on the right. Go downstairs and retrieve a bronze reward (4/6) in the wooden box. Then go all the way back upstairs. Through the broken railing, walk on the pipes and jump onto the ledges on the left wall. Shimmy all the way to the right and hop off backwards, over some more pipes. Shoot the box and collect the silver reward (2/4). Jump back onto the ledge, drop to the lower ledge, and finally onto the ground. Go through the door to reach the main offices.

The area is filled with Yakuza mercenaries, so take them all out. Go upstairs, and behind the big table there are some cabinets. Kick open the second one, right to left, to retrieve a silver reward (3/4). Return to the cubicle offices, and on the far left side of the room there's one protected by glass with a wooden box inside. You know the routine by now... do what has to be done and get another bronze reward (5/6).

From the center of the room, face the huge TV panel. Use accurate aim, and shoot the rings which hold it in place on the top corners. Then use the grapple to bring it down, creating a bridge to a door behind it. It's a lovely evening, so let's go outside.

Climb the pole on the left, all the way, and jump to the ledge. Shimmy around the corner and hop upwards to climb the ledge. Turn around and face the first of three platforms: There's a metalic plate on it, use the grapple and pull it to rotate it. Jump on the now flat surface, and head to the other end. Jump to the ladder and climb it up. Use the grapple on the second platform as well, to rotate it, and jump onto the bar to swing over the platform. Climb up the pole and jump backwards to reach the top of this platform.

Jump onto the pole ahead and climb it to the top, along the way you'll be at the third platform height, and you'll see a bar - jump onto it. Lara's weight will rotate the platform, so swing back to the pole, climb up it, and jump backwards on top of this platform. Run across and jump to a lower platform and from there, to another pole. Climb it all the way to the top, and jump backwards to the swing bars. Quickly jump past the four of them as they will fall down. From the balcony, enter the building. (Important note: If Lara keeps jumping over the first bar, just tap the jump button and she'll make the jump properly. If you hold it down she'll jump further and miss it.)

Don't go straight ahead, go left instead, and find some mercenaries guarding a box containing a bronze reward (6/6). Jump down and clear out the rest of the mercenaries. Before going through the glass doors, take notice of a small room to the left. Enter and kick open the middle cabinet to collect another silver reward (4/4). Then return and enter the glass doors.

There's a trap here, and two ways to clear it:
- you can either just pull down the huge sphere and roll it through the tunnel, as it will protect you from the turret gunfire; or
- you can enter the command center to the left, press the switch to activate the sprinklers and roll under the laser sensors when they're off.
Either way, on the other side, enter the meeting room.

From his office, Takamoto talks to Lara. He is quite upset that she is still chasing him and can't understand why she wants this particular piece so badly, although he now admits to have it. He also threatens Lara that her persistence will be the cause of her own death. He walks away and more Yakuza thugs appear.

Take these guys out and jump onto the table. Notice the glass window over the drawers? You have to throw the grapple on the huge dragon overhead, pull it so it gains momentum and let it hit the glass. Jump on the drawers and onto the newly open pathway. You have to kill the mercenaries to be able to access the lift, but don't go in just yet. Head down the hallway to where Takamoto was and pick up the weapons from the table, to be ready for the boss fight just ahead. But most importantly, grab the red box and bring it all the way to the broken window and push it down. Within is the golden reward (1/1). Pick it up and then enter the lift to face off Takamoto.

Boss: Shogo Takamoto

Takamoto pulls the fabled artifact piece and shows it to Lara. He then explains historical motives as to why he's not letting go of it. Lara asks if he'd rather die than just hand it over and he shows the very reason he's willing to take that chance.

The arena is circular with two levels, the bottom level is covered with four turrets you cannot disable, so quickly go behind one of the four statues and climb the pole to reach the upper level, where Takamoto is attacking you from. Keep him in sight and keep shooting him. He has four different types of attacks: roll under the high strikes, jump over the lower ones, and when you're near, he has a vertical slash which can be dodged by moving sideways. Don't try melee attacks on him as he'll just knock you down.

Keep firing him as you dodge his attacks and you should be done with him no problem. (We have a video walkthrough for this boss fight.)

After killing Takamoto, Lara finally lays her hands on the sword piece, confirming it's exactly what she was after. A surprised Alister talks about its powers over the headset, while Zip lets Lara know that Nishimura is waiting for her outside with an helicopter. As they fly away, Zip tells Lara he has found Rutland's current location. [back to top]

Ghana

Pursuing James Rutland
(1 gold / 4 silver / 5 bronze rewards)

While it's still unclear the reasons that brought Rutland to this place, Zip tells Lara this is one of the sites her parents had explored before she was born. Lara is welcomed by an impressive waterfall, and soon spots mercenaries pulling a cargo box to the top of the waterfall.

Lara does her best thinking while plunging off cliffs, or so she says, so make a death defying dive to the lagoon down below. Underwater, you can collect two bronze rewards (1 and 2/5), one in each side of the lagoon. Surface and climb up to the rope. Lara's weight will lift a lock, so you can either swing and kick the wall, or drop down and use the grapple to pull the wall. Either way, it will rotate, and the temple hidden behind the waterfalls will be revealed. Rutland himself will drop in for a quick conversation. Before going inside the temple, drop again into the water, now there's no more waterfall currents, so swim in the small opening underneath the main ground for a silver reward (1/4). Surface and enter the temple.

Go down the hallway and use the grapple to pull the raft. Use it to jump towards the ropes, and swing over to the next one, avoiding the water current below. Follow the hallway, and eventually you'll stumble on a roaming lost mercenary. Deal with him and jump over the inactive traps. Stand on the pressure plate long enough for the gate in the end of the corridor to open, then quickly get past it.

You've reached an area with two waterwheels, and you'll have to activate both of them. This area is some sort of hub. So let's get started. Cross the bridge and clear the area of any baddies before anything else. Climb up the ledge on the far right wall to collect a bronze reward (3/5). You can now either use the gun turret and shoot down the pillar on the left, or use the rope and swing to kick it down. This will get the first wheel spinning. Use the swing bars to reach a rope on the top, and jump to the platform on the top. From here, jump to the suspended scaffolding, and use the grapple on the little column on the far end to drag it closer. Jump to the rope on the right and swing it to jump to the top swing bars. Swing across them to the ladder and climb up.

Work your way around the gap and climb the ladder, then jump to the ledge on the left and shimmy left. Then hop to the ledge above and shimmy all the way to the left, until you're under a ladder. Work your way to the top. As you head to the next wide open area, you'll be greeted by a leopard. Dispose of it and head left, climb the remainder of stairs and follow the path, collecting the bronze reward (4/5) behind a big rock at the end. Now get ontop of this big rock.

Jump on the first scale, and as it goes down the next one goes up, so quickly hop to it, and then onto the ladder. Climb to the top and a camera will give you an overview of what you've got to do to get the water flowing. Press on and jump onto the ledges, shimmy right and drop down to the lower ledge, then jump to the left and drop onto the solid ground.

Hop onto the raft and use the grapple on the pillars to steer it around. As you get closer to the second one, dive into the water and swim to the opposite side of the room. Climb out to collect a hidden silver reward (2/4). Return to the raft and use it to boost you to the higher ledge. Climb the ladder, and work the scales, to reach the next platform. Just behind the column on the left lies a bronze reward (5/5). Pick it up and then clear the gap jumping with the grapple.

Press on and jump onto the ledges again. Shimmy right and drop to the lower ledge. Shimmy all the way close to the wall, and then jump off backwards to grab the ledge on the wall. Now go all the way to the right and jump to the next ledge, then hop upwards and finally to the platform on the right.

Stand on the pressure plate to rotate the first platform, dropping a huge block to the lower floor. Step off the switch and wait until the platform stops rotating and jump over to the statue. Run past it to the next platform and jump over to the block. Push it over the button to unlock the first arm of the statue. Now return to the first button. You'll have to be quick here: step on the switch and watch the platform rotate, time a jump while it's still rotating and hop to the statue and before it stops rotating, throw the grapple on the statue's chest and pull it out to lower its arms, and raise the gates that were blocking the water inflow down below. Dive in and let's return to the wheel to check if it's working.

Follow the water flow and climb down the ladder, then the ledges. Next hop to the ladder in the hole, and climb down and voilà, it is spinning as well. Use it's swing bars to reach the rope at the top and swing to the entrance.

Time your jumps past the three sets of traps and for the rotating blades, you can either jump over the lower set and roll under the higher set, or use the block nearby to block them. Climb onto it and jump over the blades. As you go upstairs, you'll get to more rotating blades, do the same as before, with the exception, the block for this one is hidden on the wall to the right of the stairs. Going ahead, you'll go up a set of stairs, and as you go down the following stairs, you'll feel something.

A boulder crashes down and comes after you, so quickly jump over the inactive trap on the right and roll under through the opening on the left. Then jump over the spiked pit to get rid of it before it gets rid of you. As it falls down, it will crash a block, this might come in handy as it's a shortcut, should you fall into the initial lagoon.

Go down the ladder on the left and collect the silver reward (3/4) at the bottom. Now climb back up and use the swing pole to reach the ledge. Shimmy left and hop upwards, then shimmy left again and jump off backwards. Hop up and backwards again to the swing pole before the rocks drop and you die. Jump to the next swing pole and then onto the higher platform. Turn around and notice the scaffolding. Jump onto it and it will lower down, then jump onto the central structure of the temple and jump to the next scaffolding, then hop off onto the opposite side of the area.

Turn around and jump to the grapple, swing and grab the L-shaped ledge in front of it, shimmy left and hop upwards, and then to the right, before more rocks fall over you. Clear the swing poles to reach another ledge higher. Shimmy to the left, hop upwards, and then shimmy left, and after the turn, jump off backwards to the platform.

Lara's communication with Croft Manor is still offline, but as she walks down this corridor she finds a pendant that belonged to her Mother.

The following pathway is a bit on the dark side, so you might want to turn on your PLS to know when you have to jump. Use the grapple to cross over the two spiked pits. After the doorway, deal with the mercenaries (you might want to use the scenery in your favor, by using interact to shoot a beam above the bridge and breaking it down, then use the grapple to clear the gap) and head to the right for some more waterfalls.

Take note of the poles to the right and use them to reach the ledge. But before climbing up, jump to the left and drop a grenade in front of the big brown stone wall. It will explode, revealing a silver reward (4/4). Return to the first ledge and climb all the way to the top, where you'll find two poles before gaining access to the top of the area.

Cross the bridge over the river, ignoring the barrels as they will explode the bridge below (if any mercenary does so, use the ropes to clear the huge gap), and quickly cross the bridge, shooting anyone in your way. Cross the thin steel bridge and enter the small opening to the right, where another leopard awaits for you.

Climb up the stairs on the left and quickly jump to the rope as a huge boulder will tumble down. Hop onto the right set of stairs as a huge boulder will tumble down as well. Take cover in one of the small alcoves on the wall for safety. Now head upwards and stand on the golden pressure plate. It will open a door right in front of you but it will also open a door right beneath you.

Wait until the door you see is totally open and then rush downstairs to enter the now revealed corridor. At the very end of it lies your golden reward (1/1). Make your way back to the pressure plate, and this time around, enter the door right in front of you to face off Rutland.

Boss: James Rutland

Rutland has been waiting for Lara Croft. He asks if she's also searching for the Ghalali Key, which according to Amanda would be somewhere in this temple. Rutland is also aware that Lara's father had explored this location before, and when asked about the artifact in his hands, he is more than eager to show what it can do.

Get familiar with the arena here. It plays a major role on the fight. Rutland will jump down from one of four platforms, lock the aim on him and keep shooting and jumping away or sideways, every three or four shots so he doesn't hit you with the shard. Other than the shard attack, he will also eventually use grenades to try and get you - simply jump away.

Keep firing at him. Every now and then he'll jump over to the platforms to recover his health. At this moment, the interact button will appear for the first time on the platforms. With the guns on hand, shoot the platforms using the interact button until a shiny metallic surface shows up - that's your hint. Throw the grapple and pull it to drop the platform.

You have to repeat this on all of the four platforms. You might not be able to pull the four of them down in a single turn. When Rutland comes down, shoot him a few more times, and eventually he'll jump back up onto the platforms to recover, that's when you drop the remaining platforms. When the four of them are down, fire at will to defeat Rutland. (We have a video walkthrough for this boss fight.)

Rutland falls to the floor, his life spared, and when Lara collects the shard he dropped she realizes the pieces were separated by design. She leaves Rutland behind, he tells her that Amanda broke into her mansion in case her father had found it. As she races through the valleys with her bike, Zip and Alister finally return and tell Lara about the break in, also tipping Lara off to the location of the next piece. While en route to Kazakhstan, Lara asks her assitants to do an inventory search for the Ghalali Key. [back to top]

Kazakhstan

Project Carbonek
(1 gold / 3 silver / 5 bronze rewards)

Lara arrives to the shut down facility while Alister explains his research. Snooping with her binoculars, Lara finds she has arrived a little late, as Amanda's mercenaries are attacking the local recruits.

Zip suggests you to wait a little longer, but since you're not really patient and have got a parachute, simply jump off the cliff. When the time comes, an on screen prompt will tell you which button to push to open the parachute and land safely on the rooftop of a building.

Head right, and from the higher roof, jump to the swing bar between the two buildings. Swing to the furthest one and shoot the box to reveal a bronze reward (1/5) hidden within. Then drop down to the ground floor and deal with the dozen guards that are patrolling this area. Enter the building and a small room comtaining cabinets and shelves. Here you will find a bronze reward (2/5) on the bottom shelf. Then return to the open space and use the ladder to climb to the rooftop of the building. Use the panel to jump to the watch tower over the fence and kill the scout guard.

Work your way down to ground floor and face off another dozen guards. Enter the health center to rescue two recruits being held hostage. In return, they'll give you the access code for the gate, then walk out to be ambushed by another bunch of mercenaries. Eliminate them and then head left, where there's a wooden box within a fence. There's a hole in the fence, take out your guns and shoot the barrel behind the fence to lower it so you can enter and collect a silver reward (1/3) from within the box.

Then work your way back to the hospital entrance and then to the right. Here you use the panel to open the gates. As you go upwards, drawn your gun and shoot, using interact button to avoid being hit by rolling barrels. Once at the top, enter the command center and go to the computers.

The computer reveals the location of the hidden laboratory where the experiments where done.

Zip says you've got to make your way back to the train fast, so climb up the ladder and jump to the ladder ahead to gain height. Then jump and grab hold of the cable to slide all the way to a watch tower. Now grab the other cable to slide over the fence and drop down to ground floor, here more soldiers are expecting you. Deal with them and eventually the train gates will open. Quickly get in there and hop onto the conveniently placed motorbike to enter the next bike stage by driving after the train that has just left.

Much like the bike section in Peru, dodge any static element and keep shooting all incoming enemies. This time around they'll come in jeeps as well. Don't lose your pace as the train might outrun you and the mission will fail. After a while, you'll have to take a route to the right, so either use the bridge or the ramps, just avoid going down the cliff for the obvious reason. After the second time you go through the alternate path, you'll come to a few ramps to jump over the moving train, and then you'll have to follow the road to the end to jump on the train, on some flat carriers. Then use the ramp and ride all the way to the end.

Walking on top of the wagons, Lara sees a flammable tank on the rails. She lays on the wagon as the train crashes through the tank, causing the engines to burn as well as Lara's jacket.

The next scene opens with the interactive cutscene, just press the buttons as they appear on the screen prompts to clear it. Once you're back to controlling Lara, use the grapple to pull the rope closer to you and jump onto it. Swing to the platform on the other side and climb up the ladder, jumping to the right. Then shimmy left and jump past the poles. Drop down on the other side, and then drop to ground level. There's a hidden wooden box containing a bronze reward (3/5) behind this platform. Get it ,and then climb back on top and, as you did before, use the grapple to pull the rope closer. Jump onto it and jump off to the platform at the other end. Hop to the ledge and upwards to a fan which you can shoot out if you want to pass through.

In the ventilation shaft tunnels, keep going forward and jump over the lower cables and roll under the higher ones. Jump to the pole swing through the pathway and jump onto the rope, swinging to reach the opening on top.Slide down and head left, dodging the cables and shooting another fan. Press on and jump over the cables on the slope, then roll under even more cables and on the next slide again, jump over the cables and before it ends, jump onto the swing bar.

Drop down to find a wooden box in the corner, shoot it to reveal a bronze reward (4/5), then climb the ledge at the other end of this pit, and jump to be able to use the grapple and climb up. Then turn around and swing to the opening. Slide down shooting the fans and you're inside the base.

Let's get the power on. Climb on the white box, then jump onto the grate on the left. Shimmy all the way right and jump to the platform. Clear the gap and go around the room. Grab the rope to pull a pipe, down and drop to ground floor. Walk to the front of the engine and use the grapple to pull it off, turning on the power.

Go to the other side of the entrance and climb up the grates, then shimmy right to climb and stand up. Use the grapple on the grate and pull it to open the door, jump inside and collect the silver reward (2/3) from within the box.

Drop down and head towards the now functional doors. There's a lot of green coolant around, avoid it as much as possible by jumping onto the platform and then onto the next one. Jump to the swing pole and then onto the rope to swing to a safe platform. Jump to the platforms on the left and upwards to go over another fence. Watch for the electrical arc and time your shimmy left on the pipe. At the end, jump off backwards to grab a ledge and shimmy around the corner. Let go to grab the lower ledge and jump backwards to land on the platform and watch out for another electrical arc. When it's safe, use the pipe to clear the gap over the coolant, and drop at the other end, crossing the doors and finally catching up with Amanda.

Lara now realizes Amanda was the person that was in Bolivia with Rutland. Lara tries to apologize for having left her for dead in Paraíso, but Amanda doesn't cave. Instead, she orders her mercenaries to not let Lara follow her.

Slide down the blown up bridge and shoot the mercenaries. Hidden behind the Tesla Tower, on the right side, is a bronze reward (5/5). Go to the left side and climb up the pole, jumping off to the platform, then climbing to the higher level, and use the swing poles to reach the rope. Turn around, and swing to grab the pipe of the Tesla Tower. Watch out for some electrical arcs, and time your jumps from pipe to pipe, to reach solid ground again. There's an opening in the fence of the cage, shoot the barrel through it and collect the silver reward (3/3) from within.

Return and follow the tracks on the floor for through coolant and more platforms. Climb on them, and swing over the closed doors to reach the Tesla core area. Clear the area of the mercenaries, and find the core at the very end of the tracks. Pull it a little so you can climb onto it, and jump to the ladder up high, then jump to the platform on the right. Jump to the pole swing bar and then onto the next platform, from there jump to the rope. Swing and grasp the ledge over a Tesla orb and shimmy around it, jumping backwards at the other side for a swing pole. Jump off to the platform and then onto the ladder on the right. It will slide down, making for a shortcut should you miss any jump.

Climb up the ladder and jump to the right. From the edge of the broken platform, draw any gun and shoot the barrel to explode the grates at the control center room. Now use the rope to swing over there. Pull a lever to activate the first orb, and start charging the tesla core. Get down and use your grapple to glide the core over the tracks as it scatters any debris on the tracks. Pull it all the way towards the door to open it. Like Lara, I think you'd also prefer a doorknob.

The core will make its own way to the Tesla Tower, but in the process it will activate the hanging sockets Zip told you about when you were coming in. In their corridors, use the grapple on them, and while the electric wall is down, roll past it before it's activated again. Then do the same with all other conductors. When there's two, you have to grapple both - one at a time - and wait for the right moment to roll through. Back where we started, at the tower, use the grapple to pull open the door and the core will slide right in, turning on the tesla gun and activating the doors to the right. Go in.

Lara finds a shield on the table, the crest resembles Lancelot's and its reverse apparently is a map, as Lara perceives. But a map for where? Surely it was an important location, so Lara asks Alister to analyse the pattern and try to figure it out.

Crossing the next doors bring you back to the tesla gun. Hop onto it and use the keys as displayed on screen to drag and hold objects, and to push and throw them away. For practice, three mercenaries have just come out on the other side: grab the nearby barrels, each one at a time, take aim and shoot them, flying across the hall to hit them. Once you take all of them out, turn the gun to the right and pull out the four small boxes on top of the wall. Then turn it to the left and drag the platform all the way to the right, shooting it up the small curve near the end. When it's settled all the way to the right and will move no further, drop off the gun and head to the high platform where there's a metallic box. Push it all the way, near the wall where you plucked off the four boxes, climb onto it, and jump to the ledge you created. Now jump to the ledge above and shimmy around the corner to the left. Drop down on the platform ,and jump to the one you pushed here, then onto another one from which you can see the golden reward (1/1). Use the swing pole to get over there and return the same way.

Jump down onto the area where the mercenaries were, and go in through the doors. Climb on the hovering platform and enter accurate aim mode to shoot out the two broken pipes. Then use the grapple to pull the platform over the coolant. On the next platform, use the grapple, and as you get closer to the live wires, crouch. On the third and final platform, shoot the broken pipe, use the grapple, and as it moves towards the live wire, jump over it. Then head right to the main experiment chamber.

Boss: Unknown Entity

Looking past all the machinery, Lara spots Amanda in the control room above. Her apologies fall in deaf ears, as Amanda is too focused on her own goals. Amanda explains that the entity that had killed all of their friends actually saved her life, and unleash it to get a rather upset Lara down below.

For starters, even though there's an enemy health bar on screen, you are not meant to kill the unknown entity. Instead, your objective here is to retrieve the sword piece. First thing you have to do is to throw the four levers around the room. These make four metallic orbs hang from the ceiling. Roll from one to the next as to avoid the Entity's attacks - any orange spot will explode within seconds. Once you have them all down, hop onto the tesla gun.

If the monster gets too close, you can try shooting him with the tesla gun to push him onto the wall to gain some seconds.

Your goal, however, is to activate a circular electrical wall around the gun. To do so, fire the tesla gun onto those four metallic orbs you activated with the levers before. Fire each one twice until electricity shows up, then quickly rotate to fire the next one in turn.

Once the whole cycle is done and there's an electric circle around you, drop off the gun and throw your grapple onto the sword over the gun. But be quick, because the circle won't last for long. (We have a video walkthrough for this boss fight.)

Pulling the artifact out of the machine causes it to overcharge. Amidst the explosions and discharges, Lara sees Amanda escaping from the control room, and her only route out is a tunnel underground, exposed by an explosion. As she crawls through the tunnel, Alister comes back with tidbits of information regarding the shield markings: they unbelievably refer to Cornwall, in homeland England. [back to top]

King Arthur's Tomb?
(1 gold / 5 silver / 9 bronze rewards)

Driving her Ducati, Lara catches up with her team who had been waiting in a van outside the place. Lara makes a remark about the shield leading them to a King Arthur museum, and Alister says said museum once claimed to be the actual resting place of Arthur, but was soon discredited.

Turn right to see the gift shop and a shiny metallic plate just above - grapple it out. Then pull a box from the shop underneath it to gain access to the room at the top. Shoot the wooden box to retrieve a bronze reward (1/9) and kick down the other plate. Roll out. Go near the grate and hop to the ledge, then upwards to the ledge above and let go on the other side of the grate. Hhere you will pull a lever and turn on the power. Climb the pipe on the left and jump for the ledge, then let go over the lower ledge and jump through the ledges avoiding the electrified floor. Use the door to return to the gift shop and head left, pull the sword and the museum will open.

There are several displays, you can press the buttons nearby if you'd like to hear King Arthur's story. From the entrance, head right and jump to a small opening on the wall, climb in, and shoot the box to retrieve a bronze reward (2/9). Return the same way you came in, and from the wooden plank, jump to the swing bars. Swing to the next one and it will move. When it touches the wall, quickly hop backwards to the next swing bar. Then jump off to the drawbridge pole. As it begins to come down, jump backwards so you're at the pole again, then quickly turn around and jump back to the now lowered drawbridge.

Going to the right, enter accurate aim mode and shoot the ring, which holds the wooden coffin display, and jump onto it to reach the other side. Go all the way around to the right, and roll through an opening to find a bronze reward (3/9) within a wooden box. Return and go to the sword, pull it to break a wall, take some distance and use the grapple on the weight to open the door. Pull it as much as you can then quickly run inside.

In the next area there's a forklift. Simply push the first box in the direction it is, all the way near the wall... you will notice a small grating above that you can grapple out... then return and pull another box with the forklift and raise it with the forks near the other box you just moved. Pull out the grating above, then hop onto the ground floor box, and then onto the suspended box. From there, jump to the opening in the wall to reach the Professor's office, and find a silver reward (1/5) within. Climb down and lower the forks so the box is on the floor. Push the others aside and rush downstairs with the forklift, going straight ahead and bumping the coffin to crack it open to reveal another silver reward (2/5). Behind the two boxes in this area is a cracked wall, create some speed, and bump onto it with the forklift to tear it apart and head in. In the grate, put your forks beneath it and then raise them to raise the grate, then press on until you see another cracked wall. The forklift will fall down, quickly press the on screen prompt to jump off before it's too late.

From your current position there are two bronze rewards (4 and 5/9) in sight, use the grapple to pick them up, then head left to go downstairs. Jump on the wall ledge and jump to the right, then shimmy as quickly as possible to make sure you land on the platform below. Go downstairs and jump to the next platform, then jump to the swing bar and jump to the alcove. Grab the ledge and jump right. Then quickly shimmy all the way to the right and go inside the alcove and collect the bronze reward (6/9) from within. Go back out and drop to the platform just below, go down some more steps and jump to the rope. Now swing and jump to the stairs on the opposite side then go down and jump to the wall ledge. Shimmy around the corner and let go to reach a lower alcove. Then drop down on the slope and there you go, you've made your way to the bottom.

Go upstairs and jump over the burning oil pond, then turn around, and you can grapple the box and use it to jump over the fire. Remember you have to time it right, because the iron sections have a break of two or three seconds before firing up again. Pull the box along with you and on the next turn do the same thing. Pull the box near the closed gate and jump onto it to jump over the gate. Pull the lever to open it so you can pull your box inside and use it to stop the fast spinning blades.

First stop the ones to the right, so you can retrieve a second box, then stop the blades on the left to retrieve a silver reward (3/5). Then get both boxes through the central blades. In this next area, push one box to each side so you can climb the surrounding platforms, and push two walls in a sequence (I on the left and then II on the right) This is important for collection of a relic later on. Get down and move both boxes through the next set of blades, and push both of them together over the fire, to make a platform from where you can safely jump to the other side. Pull the lever and enter the open gates.

Travel up and you'll notice a pressure plate on the floor, but the gate will only stay open if there's something on it. Jump into the water to the left and swim to the other side. As you climb out of the water, notice a bronze reward (7/9) on the wall. Use the grapple on the chandelier and pull it to create momentum so it hits the wall and breaks the bars. Now grapple the reward out of there. Turn around and notice a shiny coffin inside one of the shelves. Use the grapple on the chandelier until it hits the wall. Then grapple the coffin out onto the water and stand on it. Use the grapple on the torches, and pull them, to surf all the way to the pressure pad. Towards the end you might have to jump to the ground and pull it from there, then stand on the pressure plate and pull the coffin over it.

Down through the new gates, drop in the water and immediately turn around, and enter a small area to find a bronze reward (8/9). Return and activate the underwater switch to open the gate. A coffin will be taken with the tow, so swim to it and climb on it. You can grapple the torches to gain some speed. Just before the torch is an opening on the wall, jump through it and fall down on the other side. Swim to the left twice, and open the gate with the lever, then get back on top of the coffin. When it gets to the middle section, turn to the right and use the grapple on a far away torch. Pull it to surf the coffin all the way close enough to a silver reward (4/5). Collect it and make your way back to the other side, jumping over the wall and falling down a small waterfall. (Important note: there are some bells and some gears in this area, do NOT touch them just yet, or you may trigger a bug which won't allow you to finish the level.)

Swim on the surface all the way to the end and climb up in front of a castle. From the left side, use the grapple on both hanging lamps to turn them. Then go all the way to the left and climb the shelves to the top. Jump to the swing pole and jump to the slope, slide down, and jump to the first lamp pole. It will turn around so swing and jump ahead, using the grapple on a higher lamp, and swing to the next swing bar. It will turn and you can jump off to some small platforms. Hop to the ledges on the wall, and then onto the right for a chain. Climb it to the top and jump on top of the castle. Go all the way to the left side to find a hidden silver reward (5/5), then use the rope hanging in the central hole, to climb down into the castle.

Surprised to actually locate a tomb housing the court of Camelot, Lara also realizes that there was more than one Excalibur or a Merlin because they were everywhere.

Go to the coffin of Bedivere (the broken one) and pull it close to the column near Merlin's coffin. Then stand on the symbols in front of King Arthur's shell statue, and use the grapple on the chandelier above. Give it as much momentum as you can, then quickly hop onto the broken coffin, then ontop of the column and finally to the rope. This will outweigh the bell and raise it, so the chandelier hits it and makes enough noise to shatter Arthur's shell statue.

Bedivere had left a piece of the Excalibur in Arthur's hands indeed, after shattering the protective shell Lara collects the piece. Meanwhile, she listens to Alister and Zip struggling with an issue, they clearly are in trouble.

The front doors will open, so walk out and you will face a guardian awakened by the noise.

Boss: Sea Serpent

Don't even waste bullets trying to fire at the serpent's head. Instead, aim one of the four bells and keep firing away until you see the serpent turning her head to look at it. As it does that, stay calm and let go of your guns and press the grapple button only once. It will attach to a mechanism near the bell. Immediately pull it to drop a cage onto its head.

Repeat this on the remaining three bells. If by any chance you take too long to drop the cage ontop of its head and the cage misses it, dodge its attacks while you gain some time for the cage to return to its original position. (We have a video walkthrough for this boss fight.)

Once its dead, its body will float, so you can use it to gain access to a previously unacessible area. So swim to the nearby platform and jump on top of it. Now jump onto the ledges to the top. Follow the corridor and clear the gap jumping with the grapple, then jump to the swing bar and jump off to the slope ahead. Slide down, jumping the pit along the way. The interactive cutscene will take over, so press the buttons as they appear on screen to get rid of the second serpent.

Turn around and shoot the ring on top of the gate to release the rope. Climb the ledges on the gate to the top, and jump to the rope, then drop down on the other side and collect the bronze reward (9/9). Return to the rope, turn around, and swing all the way to the platform at the end. Push the lever and slide down. You'll be back to the speedy slicers area, except now it's been flooded with mercenaries. Use a box to stop the second set of blades and keep retracing your steps back to the surface. Don't worry about bringing a box along with you because the iron plates of the fire areas have been turned off. So just jump over the fire and over the oil pond after that. Take care of mercenaries along the way. In the main shaft room the mercenaries have installed an elevator, don't go up just yet.

Push the wall numbered III and another alcove will open. Enter to collect the golden reward (1/1). Then climb up the steps and jump over to the elevator. Press the button and it will take you to the top. Use the grapple on the wall to the right, to make it swing, so you can jump to the platform and retrace your steps to the museum. In the area where you originally found the forklift are two mercenaries. Kill them to finish the level.

The mercenary that was keeping Alister and Zip hostage listens to the gunfire inside, so he opens the gate to investigate. He is surprised by Lara Croft herself, who knocks him out and checks on her friends. They then head back home.

With all the sword pieces laying on a table at Croft Manor, they realize something is missing. Winston and Zip mention they never found records of the Ghalali Key. Lara picks up the two handle pieces and realizes there is a quite familiar pattern on it. Comparing it to the pendant her Mother was wearing in the portrait above the fireplace, Lara realizes where the Ghalali Key actually is. [back to top]

The Ghalali Key
(1 gold / 6 silver / 9 bronze rewards)

Lara returns to the very mountain the plane she and her Mother were in had crashed.

Grab the ledge on the right and quickly shimmy to the left. Then climb up and slide down, jumping off to the next platform. Jump onto the ledge ahead, drop to the lower one and shimmy around the corner to the left. Then jump backwards and quickly shimmy to the right as the ledge collapses. Climb up and jump to the ramp to the left, quickly jump to the pole, and swing over to the column before it breaks.

Drop on the other side, collecting a bronze reward (1/9). Climb back up and use the grapple to swing over to the stalagtites. Jump past them to the ledge and then shimmy right. Hop to the ledge above and shimmy to the right. Hop up, and before climbing, shimmy all the way to the right to find a small area with a silver reward (1/6). Shimmy back and climb up to the top of the mountain. Shoot the icy wall to open a path to the other side.

Past the tunnel, head right and jump to the slopes. As you slide down, jump to the next one and then to the small column. Jump to the platform on the left, and quickly jump to the bar. Swing, jump, and use the grapple to clear the gap. Turn around and use accurate aim to shoot the icy column near the wall to reveal a silver reward (2/6). Jump there, pick it up and jump back. Then head through the small passageway to see Rutland's chopper fly by. Jump on the ledge of the plane wing, and to the ledges on the opposite wall, then drop to the lower area safely. Behind the wing and the helix, collect the bronze reward (2/9). Return and drop to the left, then drop onto the main plane crash area.

Kill the snow leopard and climb the ledge on the other side. Use the grapple to pull down the remains of the plane, and clear the gap to collect a silver reward (3/6). Return to the plane. Use the grapple on the plane turbine and move it around so it stays on the lower part of the plane to weigh it down. Then go down into the plane for the last interactive cutscene of the game. Press the buttons as they appear and the plane goes down, revealing the next path.

Holding the Ghalali Key in her hands makes Lara think of her Mother. She puts it in her pocket and grabs her binoculars to spot another site in this location she wants to visit.

Jump to the slope and keep pressing forward as you jump to the pole, so you don't lose momentum, and quickly hop over to the next slope. Clear the gaps and shoot the ice wall when you get the chance. Past it, use the pole to clear the gap. Go around the ledge and just beneath the last slope is a bronze reward (3/9). Collect it using the grapple. Go down the hallway and jump to the ledge.

Prepare for some swift and quick acrobactics. Jump to the pole and swing to the wall. Shimmy left and clear the gap. Quickly shimmy left and drop to the lower ledge, then hop off backwards to the stalagtite, then jump onto the unstable piece of ice. Lara's weight will determine whichever direction it will fall, so quickly use the grapple to retrieve the bronze reward (4/9) from behind the second stalagtite, and jump to the ledge on the opposite wall. Shimmy right and climb up.

Grab the opposite side of this ledge and shimmy left, going down. At the bottom, you will retrieve the golden reward (1/1) from a small alcove. Now work your way back up using the same ledges. This time around, jump to the ledge on the wall, and shimmy to the right. Jump to the ledge and drop to the lower one, jumping backwards to a pole. Climb it to the top and jump to the right, then shimmy to the right and jump to the far away ledge. Quickly shimmy to the right and jump to the ledge above to reach Rutland's troops.

Clear the area before collecting the relics. There's a bronze reward (5/9) near the lake, to the left. Jump on the nearby small ice ledge and shoot the suspicious icy wall to reveal a silver reward (4/6). Then jump onto the higher platform, and use it to boost over to where a bronze reward (6/9) is. Use the grapple to jump over to the highest building, and use the cable to slide over the freezing lake.

Slide down the cavern and collect the bronze reward (7/9) in the small alcove to the left. Hop over the floating ice platforms, and shoot the third one from the ceiling to clear the area. Jump to the higher area, drop on the other side, and wait for the current to bring some floating ice platforms closer. Jump on them in the direction they're coming from to find a silver reward (5/6). It's on the left and a path on the right. Pick up the relic and follow the hallway to reach some stairs. Upstairs, in the main temple, another snow leopard attacks. Deal with it, and go down the stairways to the right, to find a broken panel on the wall. Shoot it to reveal a silver reward (6/6). Return up top and clear the huge gap with the grapple.

On the other side, there's another snow leopard, and a weight puzzle. However, before getting to that, go up the stairs, on both sides of the buddha statue, and pick up a bronze reward (8 and 9/9) in each one. Stand on the right balance and pull in the large wooden box with the grapple. Then jump on top of the central structure, and stand on the other balance to bring it to the ground. This allows you to pull the golden box in with the grapple. Then go over to the other panel and pull in the smaller box on the same platform, so both outweigh the golden box. Climb up the central structure and pull the golden box with the grapple, and position it over the golden switch on the center. The doors beneath will open, so enter.

Lara kneels in front of the dais and puts the shards on the floor. They rumble just as they're exposed to the Ghalali Key, and when Lara places it above the shards, they float and become one piece again. Lara slides the reforged Excalibur in the stone dais, but it simply crumbles to the floor.

Follow either side corridors to reach a broken doorway. Use the Excalibur to bring it down. The monastery itself will begin collapsing, so quickly jump to the platform on the left, then onto the one right ahead, and then on the one to the right. Now jump to the tall one and stand near the edge, as it will fall forward you'll need the extra momentum to boost over to grasp the ledge. Do so and the level ends.

With the Excalibur in hands, it's time to return to Bolivia to see what that stone dais can do. [back to top]

Bolivia Redux

The Looking Glass
(no rewards)

Amanda and Rutland have been expecting Lara, but she's not surprised. Lara asks Alister and Zip not to distract her, then slides down a zipline to the stone dais. An energy blast from the Excalibur send her foes flying around, and as Rutland lands, he orders his mercenaries to kill her.

There are a great number of mercenaries here, but the Excalibur is very powerful, so use it to knock out all of them. When the last of the mercenaries fall to the floor, another cutscene will kick in.

Boss: Amanda Evert

Rutland dies in Amanda's arms, and she becomes very upset. Lara is walking towards the stone dais she came for, but Amanda tries to stop her because she wants to be the one to activate the artifacts. She uses the wraith stone and becomes part of the unknown entity to try and stop Lara.

You have the Excalibur, so basically: simply lock your aim on Amanda and keep swinging the sword. She moves really fast, but you'll still hit her nevertheless. Don't ever stand still, as Amanda has a powerful attack which will knock you down, and she might even get to chain a few combos eventually dropping you off the arena. Keep running in circles and take cover behind the stones when needed. Also note the Excalibur's attack goes through walls, so never stop swinging it.

After taking some damage, she will drop down onto the ground and the interact button will appear above her head. Rush towards her and press the interact key to thrust Excalibur onto her chest before she stands up again. She'll recover some of her health and you have to repeat the whole process three more times to finally beat the entity. (We have a video walkthrough for this boss fight.)

Amanda falls on the floor, unconscious. Lara reconfigures the dais stones then pushes the Excalibur into the dais. The portal activates, as she hoped, but she is surprised to listen to her own Mother on the other side. She tries to save her Mother's life by telling her not to pull the sword, but Amanda comes to and tells Lara to pull out the sword. Lara thinks Amanda is talking to her Mother, but Amanda then yells the dais will explode if the sword is not pulled out. Lara's Mother listens to Amanda and in a reflexive movement pulls out the sword on the other side of the portal.

After realizing she had lost her Mother, again, Lara jumps away from the portal before it explodes. Amanda then says that Lara ruined everything, and a confused yet angry Lara demands an explanation to these events. Amanda tries to explain what she believes the portal to do, but Lara wants an immediate answer to whatever happened to her Mother. Under gunpoint, Amanda tells Lara that her Mother has gone to Avalon. Trying to make sense out of it, Lara decides to spare Amanda's life – her knowledge might be important in the future. She then tells Zip to arrange a meeting with a friend of her Father's and walks home, carrying the Excalibur and new found hope to understand what really happened to her Mother. [back to top]

Croft Manor

Croft Manor
(1 gold / 10 silver / 16 bronze rewards)

After finishing the first level, Croft Manor can be accessed through the main menu. It represents 5% of the game and is fundamental to unlock all extras.

Lara begins in the entry hall, and right on the left is a bronze reward (1/16). Go right into Zip's tech area, and activate the blinking notebook on the ground to recover the MAGNETIC GRAPPLE. Go upstairs and left, using the grapple on the silver plate near the ceiling to reveal a bronze reward (2/16) in a little hatch. Enter the second door, at the end of the corridor, to reach Lara's bedroom.

Pull both daggers on the left, and the medusa plate will open, revealing Lara's DUAL PISTOLS. Take them and go behind Lara's bed to collect a bronze reward (3/16). You can change your current outfit in the closet. Exit the bedroom, and enter the next door to reach Alister's library. Shoot the wooden planks to the right of the door to reveal a silver reward (1/10), and a mobile bookcase. Drag it over a pressure plate behind Alister's desk. Collect the PLS from the table, and use the grapple on a platform above the stairs to drop another mobile bookcase. Drag it over the other pressure plate and a secret door to Lara's bedroom will open. Before entering, collect a bronze reward (4/16) on the second floor and, in the same room, pull the dagger to reveal a second bronze reward (5/16).

Through the secret tunnel, pick up the silver reward (2/10). To the right, behind some boxes, you'll get the first clue of the manor's enigma (touch the statue tongue and read the panel). Shoot the box to the left to find a bronze reward (6/16). Go upstairs and touch the statue tongue to reach Lara's bedroom. Head back to the main hall. From the front of Lara's bedroom door, use the grapple to pull down some swing bars on the top of Zip's tech room. Swing to the other end of the hall and, heading left, shoot the sun symbol near the ceiling to reveal a silver reward (3/10). Go to the first floor and enter the door near Zip's to reach the swimming pool.

Dive in and pick up the bronze reward (7/16). Climb out of the water, and use the grapple on the statue on the left, to pull out a swing bar for later. Taking the left path, pull the fish statue to the edge of the pool, and retrieve the bronze reward (8/16) from the small niche it was in. Pick up another bronze reward (9/16) behind the chairs, and work your way around the pool. Pull out both fish statues on the right path, and climb up on top of the leftmost one. Jump to the bar and then onto the ledge. Shimmy all the way right, and jump backwards on top of the rightmost fish. Swing over to the upper area of Lara's pool. Pick up the bronze reward (10/16) on the plank, and turn the statues around so they face each other. Touch the statue's tongue to open one of the underwater grates.

Turn the statues again, this time making them turn their backs on each other. Now read the second enigma clue on the panel. Go to the other side, and jump to the swing bar you pulled before, then use the grapple to reach the next one and jump up onto the opposite side. Collect the BINOCULARS at the horse statue, and use the grapple to pull the sphere from the top of the fish. Move it so it stands on top of the pressure plate near the plank. Pick up the silver reward (4/10), behind the other fish statue, and dive. Climb up the fish statue which you had pulled before on the ground floor, and jump on top of the hanging plants. Use the grapple on the opposite wall to drag the plants closer to it, and jump over to collect the silver reward (5/10). Dive in and throw the underwater lever.

Swim past the open gates, collecting the silver reward (6/10) along the way. The final gate will open as you swim close to it. Cross it and collect the bronze reward (11/16), then climb out. In the gymnasium there are several rewards. With the original setup, use the swing bar and jump up to the wall, then head left to reach a silver reward (7/10) over the pool. Return to the first swing bar, but before jumping to it, use the grapple on it to swing it around. Then jump to the slope, and climb up the wall to reach the poles at the top. Now drop down on the opposite slope, jumping off along the slide, to collect another bronze reward (12/16).

Return to the first slope and jump to the wall, this time around shimmy right and jump to the pole. Climb up the ladder to reach a higher pole, and jump into the niche with a bronze reward (13/16). Grab the edge and retrace your way back to the ladder. This time jump to the other side using the ledges, and then to the swing pole over the alcove. Let go to grab the small platform below, shimmy right, and climb in to collect the bronze reward (14/16).

Grab the ledge in the middle of the room, and jump across the bars and poles. Head right, climbing the cracks, and jump to the other side to collect a bronze reward (15/16). Drop into the pool to return to ground floor. Use the grapple on the wall above the pond to shift it. Now retrace your steps to the latest idol but use the swing bar, now shifted around, to reach a hanging platform. Use the grapple on the wall above the entrance door to drag it closer and jump to the silver reward (8/10).

Drop down and go to the central rock again, but this time head left. Use the bar to reach the wall, and hang over the alcove. Let go and Lara will grab the alcove ledge, get in, and retrieve the last bronze reward (16/16). Drop down and use the grapple on the moon-like bar, near the rock, and also on the ladder on the opposite wall to change their positions. Use the rock, and climb the wall to the left and, when you start sliding, jump off to the next wall. Use the bars to reach a pole hanging from the ceiling, then jump onto the hanging platform nearby. It will glide you to the silver reward (9/10) on another hanging platform.

Drop down and return to the manor, entering Alister's library. Push the books using the interact button, and in the order collected in the pond clue (blue, yellow, green and red. The yellow and green books are on the second floor). Two bookshelves will move, revealing the final silver reward (10/10) and a new clue for the enigma. Return to the main hall and head left, close to Lara's bedroom doors. Touch the statue tongue and quickly use the swing bars to reach the opposite aisle to touch the second statue tongue. A statue will be revealed on the ground floor and the final clue on the panel.

Go down to the ground floor, and turn the statue around so it faces the stairs and the stained glass windows. Step on the switch to reveal the golden reward (1/1). Go upstairs and use the swing bars to reach it. Before leaving the manor, it's important to use the option "Save Rewards" in the menu. [back to top]
