The Tomb Raider franchise has been running for over a decade now, and with nine major installments spread through different generations, at some point the franchise certainly had missed the point. Square Enix, new owner of Eidos Interactive, has released lifetime sales figures for all the Tomb Raider titles. The chart covers sales from the original ground breaking debut game, to the latest in the series.

The original Tomb Raider game was developed by Core Design. Its revolutionary cinematic approach and fully explorable 3D environments, not to mention the leading character, brought the game an iconic status in a blink of an eye. After a number of ups and downs, the series was transferred to Crystal Dynamics, who have been in charge of the franchise since Tomb Raider: Legend. Curiously, the game with the lowest sales figures is Tomb Raider: Anniversary, a modern revision of the debut game, which remains as the best selling title in the series.
